Constructed in 1950, this bridge was originally called the South Capitol Street Bridge before being renamed after Anacostia resident, Frederick Douglass. This bridge spans the Anacostia River and connects South Capitol Street to Interstate/Route 295 and Suitland Parkway. The current road system is being rebuilt, with a new suspension bridge taking the place of the current bridge. More information on DDOT's plans can be found here.
