Description
These are photographs of the Taft Bridge, otherwise known as the Connecticut Avenue Bridge. This item mostly contains reconstruction photos from the early 1990s. The famous Perry Lions in these photos were designed by the famous sculptor Roland Hinton Perry in 1906 and installed in 1907. Perry also designed the famous Court of Neptune fountain in front of the Library of Congress.
These original lion statues were removed during the 1990s renovation project, as they were in fragile condition, and are currently stored in the Air Rights Tunnel.
